IPL franchise owners are suggested by ECB to invest The Hundred

After the T20 format emerged, the Hundred competition gained popularity because to its unique format of 100 balls per side, which added a new dimension to the game of cricket. Players were drafted into the English-founded league from all around the world.

The owners of the richest cricket league in the world, the IPL are apparently in negotiations to invest in the new competition with the franchise owners and the England Cricket Board (ECB).

In order to avoid giving up whole control of the share to private investors—in this example, the IPL owners—the ECB is willing to provide a 49 percent ownership while holding onto 51 percent. The chief executive of the ECB, Richard Gould, noted that clubs have the option to sell a portion of their shares and that the action will not result in the governing body losing control over competition.

“We are not giving up control over it; control exists on several levels, including the team and competitive levels. According to Gould, who was cited by TOI, “different investor groups have different needs. For some, it’s about control over what happens on the pitch, for others, it’s the commercial element.”

“You are correct regarding the strength of the Indian market; it accounts for nearly 90% of the ICC’s (International Cricket Council) revenue, and we have witnessed an increase in the number of IPL teams venturing into other countries in addition to their home market. That’s great, in my opinion,” he continued.

Comparable to the Big Bash League and Women’s Big Bash League in Australia, as well as the IPL and Women’s Premier League (WPL) in India, the Hundred League comprises both men and women. Owners of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) have met and had discussions with ECB’s head of business operations, Vikram Banerjee, revealed.

“I’ve now met and spoken with all of the owners of the IPL and the WPL (Women’s Premier League) that don’t overlap, and from what they’ve told me, there is interest there, which is fantastic and makes for an exciting process.” It would be fantastic if we could form some kind of collaboration with any of the IPL teams. They know cricket extremely well and have done an excellent job.”
