Surprisingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the questionable bowling action list that Saurashtra left-arm bowler Chetan Sakariya belongs to. The 25-year-old, who is well-known for his outstanding IPL seasons, has been flagged by the board as one of seven players with a questionable behavior even though he is not in danger of receiving a suspension.
Sakariya has played in 19 IPL games and had cameos in one ODI and two T20Is for India, thus his position on the suspect list raises some eyebrows. The exact timing of his reporting is still unknown; Saurashtra Cricket Association officials have stated that they are unaware of it.
Sakariya is not immediately prohibited from bowling, but the BCCI has notified the Indian Premier League teams about the circumstance. Teams have been informed by the BCCI that Sakariya, who is now recuperating from a back stress fracture, is not subject to a ban. The left-arm bowler was recently freed by the Delhi Capitals, and there are signs that he will return soon, possibly playing in the next Ranji Trophy.
Sakariya, who is valued at a base price of Rs 50 lakh, is preparing for the Indian Premier League auction after missing out on this season’s local fixtures, which included the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Sakariya is not the only prominent figure on the suspect list; there are also names like Tanush Kotian, Rohan Kunnummal, Salman Nizar, Saurabh Dubey, Arpit Guleria, and Chirag Gandhi. The Karnataka State Cricket Association’s Manish Pandey and KL Shrijith are facing bowling bans.
With the T20 World Cup coming up in June, IPL clubs are eager to know if overseas players are available, but the BCCI has not yet given an explanation. On December 19, at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, 333 players—214 Indians and 119 international cricketers—will be up for sale. With 116 capped players and 215 uncapped players in the lineup, clubs are getting ready for an entertaining bidding session as the auction draws near.
