Players from the Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are wearing black armbands up their sleeves in the IPL current match, number 44. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata are the venue for the two teams’ current match.
In order to honour the victims of the recent horrific terrorist attack at the Baisaran Valley in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025, hosts KKR recently asked the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) for permission to wear black armbands during the current match.
It is believed that KKR wanted to use this opportunity to remember the victims and their families who had to endure the terrible act of extreme violence, even if the BCCI has not yet released an official comment.
Umran Malik, a J&K native, was admitted by KKR
Umran Malik joined the team to finish his recovery for the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League, which was a huge step for the reigning champions. Umran was first purchased by KKR for INR 75 lakh, however he was quickly sidelined by an injury.
Days after the current season began, Chetan Sakariya was brought on as Umran’s successor. It is important to remember that Umran has not been added to the official squad and will only travel with the team to spend time on crucial areas like bowling and fitness.
Umran played his final competitive match for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous IPL season. Before being suspended for the entire season, he only participated in one Orange Army game. Regarding his domestic pursuits, Umran was scheduled to compete in the Duleep Trophy in 2024. However, a hip fracture before to the event forced him to withdraw.
