The players, support personnel, and broadcast crew who participated in the postponed IPL 2025 match between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday, May 8, are being actively protected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
According to reports, the cross-border tensions caused the high-stakes match to be called off halfway through the first innings. It was suggested that the fans leave the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala right away. A special train is currently being planned by the Indian cricket board to transport the players, support personnel, and broadcast crew from Dharamshala.
“To ensure everyone gets home safely, we are setting up a special train from near Dharamshala. The stadium has been evacuated and the game has been cancelled as of right now. Depending on the circumstances tomorrow, we will make a decision regarding the tournament’s future. Right now, the safety of the players comes first. The circumstances prevented the game from continuing tonight. The Times of India cited BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla as stating, “It wasn’t safe.”
The players from both teams have reportedly returned to their hotels. They are currently awaiting additional directives from the BCCI. It is significant to remember that Dharamshala’s airport is closed, and it is still unclear when the players will return from the hills.
Punjab’s upcoming match in Dharamshala had already been moved to Ahmedabad by the BCCI. On Sunday, May 11, this matchup is scheduled against the Mumbai Indians.
Recent indications, however, indicate that the 18th edition of the IPL may not have a bright future.
Prior to the match, Punjab Kings had a dominant lead at 122/1 in 10.1 overs thanks to heroic half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. The former left after hitting five fours and six sixes to reach 70 off 34 balls. Prabhsimran, who was hitting 50 off just 28 deliveries, had been joined in the middle by Shreyas Iyer.
