Rajat Patidar, the designated captain of RCB, was fined for his team’s sluggish over rate against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 Match No. 65 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Rajat Patidar was fined INR 24 lakhs because it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. In the meantime, the Impact Player and the other members of the playing xi were each fined INR 6 lakh or 25% of their respective match fees, whichever was lower.
The SRH captain, Pat Cummins, was also punished for his team’s continued slow over-rate. Cummins was fined INR 12 lakh because it was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences.
Jitesh Sharma took over as captain of RCB, who lost their fourth game of the season, while Patidar only made an appearance as an Impact Player due to a finger injury. Even though Jitesh was disappointed by the defeat, he had a constructive view of it, stating that games may teach teams things they wouldn’t otherwise know.
“I believe there were an additional 20–30 runs. They performed admirably. I had no responses to their attack. We were rusty. At first, the intensity wasn’t there. We were bowling more correctly in the end. I was upset when I got out, so I haven’t met David yet. Because you can examine and analyse, losing a game might occasionally be a really positive indicator. The fact that everyone is contributing is a plus. We have a setback to check [things] anew after this loss. “We’ll proceed,” Jitesh declared during the post-game presentation.
However, Cummins stated that they managed to achieve a decisive victory, although a consoling one, despite their inability to accurately assess the wicket. The Australia international claimed that although SRH had set a target of 170 as a manageable total, they ultimately struck 231-6, defeating RCB by 42 runs.
“A little too much seasoning. Well done on the bat and ball. Nitish has returned to bowling. I’m constantly being told to bowl by Abhishek. Instead of 200, Kishan took us to 230. In fact, we most likely misinterpreted the wicket. We believed it to be 170 wickets. You’ve played long enough to realise that anything is possible. Generally speaking, a six indicates either an excellent or poor shot. After the victory, the SRH captain remarked, “[Malinga] has been a real find this season.”
