Due to a finger injury, star cricketer Sanju Samson was unable to hold the wickets for the Rajasthan Royals for the first three games of the Indian Premier League 2025, which caused him to be much despised. The Kerala native only made appearances as an Impact Substitute, a specialised batter. Riyan Parag led the 2008 champions’ captaincy journey while he was away.
Sanju Samson appears to have restarted his net sessions after missing a few more games. The IPL is still suspended, but teams have started preparing again because the season might start at any moment. On Monday morning, the team uploaded a photo of Samson, showing the 31-year-old biting his fingers while wearing his batting gear and practice equipment.

Sanju Samson was quite successful as a batter, and after he recovered, he assumed the captaincy responsibilities. However, he suffered another injury on the same area four games later following the match against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Because of these several chop-and-changes, RR was eliminated from the competition’s playoff stages, and Parag went on to manage the team for the next four games.
With just three victories from their first 12 games, RR hasn’t had the ideal season. Along with the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, they are one of the three teams eliminated from the playoff race. Before concluding the 2025 season, the Jaipur and Guwahati-based team has two league stage matches remaining: one against CSK and the other against Punjab Kings (PBKS).
May 12 and May 16 were the dates of RR’s remaining games. The exact date of these matches is still up in the air, though, and will only become clear when the BCCI releases the updated tournament schedule. Samson will want to finish the tournament on a good note because he will be preparing for India’s multi-format series against Bangladesh in August, but both games will be dead rubber for RR.
