When the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament resumes following the current break, it is believed that the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), the highest cricket regulating body, will extend the current season till May 30. The BCCI is considering three locations to host the remaining games, beginning on May 16, in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The franchises will be informed of the updated schedule by Sunday, May 11.
All parties, with the exception of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), have been instructed by the governing body to return to their home stadiums by Tuesday, May 13. After the BCCI formally cancelled the IPL 2025 on Friday, May 9, the majority of the overseas contingent and support personnel departed for their homes. The BCCI has advised teams to keep their international players updated on their travel schedules. Because of the time constraint, further doubleheaders are in the works.
Due to a week-long suspension, the IPL final may now take place on May 30 rather than May 25 at a few different locations. All IPL teams will receive the schedule by evening. According to a BCCI source cited by The Indian Express, “all franchises have been instructed to notify their team to report to their respective destination by Tuesday.”
In the midst of intense political tensions, India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire, and IPL Chairperson Arun Dhumal stated his optimism that the IPL would resume.
“A ceasefire was just declared. If it is feasible to do so right away, we now investigate the option of starting and ending the IPL again. We will now be talking to all the stakeholders, including broadcasters, team owners, and everyone else engaged, to figure out how to proceed after figuring out the venue dates and other details. Above all, the government would need to be consulted,” Dhumal said.
Due to security concerns and floodlight failure, the IPL 2025 game was cancelled.
A technical issue with the floodlights and security concerns led to the cancellation of IPL 2025 match 58. The BCCI will make the ultimate choice over the aforementioned locations after consulting with the appropriate Indian government officials. The tournament final was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 25 at Eden Gardens.
