After defeating the PBKS, who had won the league stage, with a clinical performance in Qualifier 1, the RCB advanced to the IPL 2025 final.
RCB advanced to their fourth IPL final after defeating PBKS by eight wickets.
In doing so, the Rajat Patidar-led RCB team made it to the IPL final for the first time in nine years. It’s interesting to note that the RCB last placed in the top two during the league stage in 2016, which was nine years ago.
“We’re pleased with our performance this season. We have developed a collective character during the season, which is reflected in the group’s approach to challenges: fearlessness, poise, and aggressive intent. We’ve reached a number of significant milestones along the way, but this is undoubtedly the most significant one,” remarked Mo Bobat, RCB’s director of cricket.
“It’s been wonderful to see everyone contributing, and we have a lot of match winners. The playoffs are a moment to truly trust and appreciate your cricket after a hard and exhausting league round. “The players are very focused and determined to finish the job, and the final will be a great occasion, especially for our fans,” he continued.
What is the performance of the players?
Throughout the IPL 2025, RCB has proven to be an extremely strong team. As they advanced to the Qualifier 1, RCB made history by becoming the first IPL club to win every away game they were assigned during the league stage. Virat Kohli, the former captain, has contributed more than 600 runs and eight half-centuries, the most by any batter this season, even though Rajat Patidar has been an excellent captain. In actuality, RCB has never lost a match when Kohli has reached fifty runs while they have batted second this season. Kohli has hit more over 600 runs in a season for the fifth time in IPL 2025.
Although Kohli’s setting of the bar is nothing new in the sport, the other players’ backing for him has been particularly noteworthy for RCB. The squad has benefited greatly from the half-centuries scored by nine other hitters this season, including Tim David, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Devdutt Padikkal, and skipper Patidar, to mention a few.
Josh Hazlewood (21 wickets) is leading the pack among the bowlers who have taken more than eight wickets in the competition thus far. The explosive leg-break bowler Suyash Sharma has taken eight wickets, while Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have each taken 15 wickets. Liam Livingstone, Romario Shepherd, and South African Lungi Ngidi have all taken significant wickets.
With nine separate players collecting Player of the Match accolades, RCB has not only rewritten the history books but advanced to the IPL 2025 final thanks to their incredible performances.
Dismantling the obstacles
It goes without saying that the squad may create unforgettable moments when such gifted cricket players get together and play at their best. IPL 2025 has been even better for RCB because they have defeated their bitter rivals in a way that has never been seen before.
For the first time in IPL 2025, RCB defeated CSK both at home and away to complete the league double. The victory at the Chepauk was actually the first in seventeen years.
When Jitesh Sharma, Patidar, and Kohli batted the Mumbai Indians out of the game to record the team’s first victory at the stadium in a decade, it was one of the best days for RCB this season.
Before RCB defeated KKR in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, they had to wait six years.
A seven-year curse was broken when RCB defeated the Delhi Capitals handily in Kohli’s backyard in New Delhi.
With more over an over remaining, RCB used their strength to overwhelm the Lucknow Super Giants in the final league match of the 2025 Indian Premier League. It placed RCB in second place on the points table and was the second most successful pursuit of the season.
Individual RCB IPL 2025 Milestones
In Qualifier 1 of the IPL Playoffs, RCB defeated Punjab Kings with 60 deliveries remaining. The greatest victory ever achieved by any club in an IPL playoff (or knockout) game
In IPL history, Jitesh Sharma’s 85 not out off 33 balls against LSG is the highest total ever by a batter ranked No. 6 or lower.
Jitesh Sharma and Mayank Agarwal’s 107-run partnership was the most for RCB for the fifth wicket or less in a run-chase, surpassing AB de Villiers and Iqbal Abdullah’s 91 against the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 Qualifier 1.
With 576 balls, Phil Salt became the third-fastest player to reach 1000 IPL runs in the tournament’s history. Andre Russell (545 balls) and Travis Head (575 runs) are the only two batters who have reached the 1000-run mark more quickly.
