If the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win their first Indian Premier League (IPL) championship this year, a devoted fan base from Belagavi, Karnataka, has asked state chief minister Siddaramaiah to establish a public holiday throughout the state. Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru thrilling eight-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1, which guaranteed them a spot in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the handwritten letter went viral.
In addition to requesting a single day off, Shivanand Mallannavar, a fan, has encouraged the government to officially mark the event as the “Royal Challengers Bengaluru Fans’ Festival” and suggests statewide festivities comparable to those of Karnataka Rajyotsava, a regional holiday.
In order to reward supporters who have stuck by the team through its ups and downs throughout the years, he also suggested that the RCB victory day, if it occurs, be commemorated and recalled annually.
#belagavika #belagavi pic.twitter.com/KHEhqXvV6g

Before the match, the team dominated the Punjab Kings in a lopsided match in New Chandigarh. In just 14.1 overs, RCB’s bowlers destroyed PBKS for a meagre 101 runs. With three wickets apiece, Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma were the best bowlers, while Yash Dayal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar also contributed.
RCB started their brilliant play right away after winning the toss and choosing to bowl, as Dayal got rid of Priyansh Arya in the second over. After Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar, Hazlewood took the crucial wicket of PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer. Suyash’s double goal ended all of Punjab’s aspirations in the game, and they never bounced back from the collapse.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru made the run pursuit appear simple by chasing a little target. Even though Virat Kohli was dismissed early by Kyle Jamieson, Phil Salt, the English opener, hammered an undefeated 56 off 27 balls. With six fours and three sixes during his innings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru was able to reach the goal in just ten overs. Musheer Khan gave Rajat Patidar a six to end the match. For the first time in nine years, RCB is making their IPL final appearance. Although they have advanced to the final in 2009, 2011, and 2016, they were never awarded the trophy.
