After defeating Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) in an exciting final on Tuesday night, Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) eventually broke the curse and raised their first Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. In an impassioned social media post, the star hitter dedicated the triumph to the team’s supporters, who have been there for almost 20 years, in addition to his teammates.
One of the images circulated showed Virat Kohli carrying the coveted trophy and wearing a unique RCB “Champions” jersey alongside captain Rajat Patidar and wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma.
The word Champion was printed in gold on a red t-shirt. However, ‘1’ was used in place of ‘I’ to represent the inaugural title for the well-known franchise.
“I’ll never forget this season; this team made the dream possible.” Over the past two and a half months, we have had a great time on the journey. This one is dedicated to the RCB supporters who have always stood by us at our darkest moments. This one is dedicated to all the years of disappointment and heartache. This is for every last bit of effort put forth while representing this squad on the pitch. Regarding the IPL trophy, you’ve made me wait eighteen years to be able to raise you and celebrate my buddy, but the wait has been well worth it,” Kohli wrote as the caption for his Instagram picture.

When the last ball was bowled, the 36-year-old’s feelings were evident. Additionally, he was observed collapsing to his knees. To celebrate the victory, Kohli was also spotted sprinting over to embrace his wife, Anushka Sharma. In the meantime, with 657 runs in 15 innings and eight fifties, Kohli had yet another memorable season. He has been a member of the team since 2008, has amassed over 8,600 runs, is the all-time top scorer in the event, and has captained RCB in 143 games, including a 2016 final.
Bengaluru erupted in joy after the heartfelt victory, painting the city crimson and illuminating it with fireworks. On the other hand, the team has planned a victory parade for June 4 in Bengaluru, where the players would ride across the city to celebrate with their devoted fans. RCB has not yet released any other information regarding the parade, though.
