When the GT play the Lucknow Super Giants on May 22 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, they will be sporting a special lavender uniform. As part of their annual tradition, they will honour those who have fought cancer and raise awareness of the disease among people worldwide.
On May 18, in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, GT will play DC in their next game. GT will play LSG at home on May 22 at 7:30 PM after their game against DC. They will be sporting the lavender jersey for the third time in the IPL. This was confirmed by GT’s official handle on X.
“Strength is used to stand in for a cause, not just in the game 🙌 In an effort to raise awareness of the fight against cancer, Gujarat Titans official handle on X said, “Join us on May 22nd as our Titans don the lavender jersey to support the fight against cancer!” The supporters were asked to enjoy the encounter between the two clubs, which began in the 2022 Indian Premier League.

The background of GT’s lavender uniform and their games
Although the Titans had a great debut season in 2022, capturing the championship on their first try, their policy of donning the lavender jersey began the following season in 2023. When Hardik Pandya led GT against SRH in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in 2023, the trend began.
Gujarat Titans carried on the tradition in the IPL 2024 by donning the lavender shirt during the match versus KKR, who ultimately emerged victorious. They want to wear the shirt against LSG in 2025 as a way to honour cancer survivors.
They are not the only team that, for a specific reason, dons a distinctive uniform during a game. In order to express their care for the environment, RCB initiated the trend in 2011 by donning a unique green shirt. In one of their games in 2015, DC donned a lavender jersey, while RR wore a pink one as well.
