Shreyas Iyer, captain of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), asked Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to bat first in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and the team ended up scoring 190/9.
Punjab intended to bowl to the RCB hitters at a nice length and short. The first batter to be hit out was Phil Salt. Kyle Jamieson got him out in the second over. Mayank Agarwal started off with several lovely strokes but was unable to turn them into a significant score.
Rajat Patidar had a strong start as well, but he left at the wrong moment. At the other end, Virat Kohli was acting as the anchor. He wasn’t as fluid, though, as he had been in the season’s earlier games. Azmatullah Omarzai got rid of the former India captain after he scored 43 off 35 balls.
With some major hits, Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone attempted to boost the ante. But towards the conclusion of the innings, they both left in successive overs. At the end, wickets continued to fall, with three of them occurring in the 20th over, which Arshdeep Singh bowled.
The strategy was to bowl short, according to Jamieson, who finished with a three-for. His team should be able to reach the 191-run objective, he thought.
“It must be sufficient for us. Slower balls weren’t sticking in as much as they had the other day, but the surface was good. Two nights ago, we had decided to go short, and slower ones worked well. tried using the whole balls to provide some variation. Stoin (Marcus Stoinis) assisted with one and took wickets. However, things didn’t go as planned in my last over,” Jamieson told the broadcasters.
