At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, during the 2025 IPL final between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Romario Shepherd hit in his opening over to dismiss Shreyas Iyer for one run off a few of deliveries. For a cheap touchdown, Iyer was forced to walk back. He was the second wicket from PBKS to fall in a row and the third overall.
Romario Shepherd gave a brief but effective delivery outside off-stump. The PBKS captain’s sloppy shot landed in Jitesh Sharma’s gloves after catching the middle-order batter’s bat’s outer edge.
The RCB team’s unadulterated joy, especially that of Virat Kohli, demonstrated the significance of Iyer’s wicket. He played a brilliant knock against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 a few days prior to this.
Romario strikes GOLD! 🤩❤️
Massive moment! Sarpanch Shreyas departs and #RCB would look to get on top from this stage! 💪🏻
Who takes control from here? 👀

After being put in to bat first earlier in the game, RCB scored 190/9. With 43 off 35, Kohli scored the most points. Liam Livingstone (25 off 15), Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10), Romario Shepherd (17 off 9), and Rajat Patidar (26 off 16) all had helpful cameos.
Regarding the bowling department of PBKS, Kyle Jamieson (3/48 in four overs) and Arshdeep Singh (3/40 in four overs) split six wickets. The Iyer-led team’s most economical bowler was Vijaykumar Vyshak (1/30 in four overs).
Since PBKS has already lost seven wickets and needs 45 off the final 15 balls, the victory appears to be only a formality for the Bengaluru-based team as of this writing. After a 17-year wait, this will be the first time they hold the cutlery.
