Dwayne Bravo, the current coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and a former West Indian all-rounder, said at a news conference after the team’s 2025 IPL defeat to the Mumbai Indians (MI). The right-arm bowler underlined that the players’ major takeaway is to remain upbeat and have an optimistic outlook.
During the news conference, the two-time Purple Cap champion acknowledged that the competition is still early and that KKR is not the only team to have won one and lost two games. Bravo discussed the value of respecting the adversary but still having faith in one’s abilities and instincts. The former West Indies international urged his team to understand that the opposition has done their homework and adjust their game appropriately.
“The players are told to maintain that mindset and stay upbeat moving forward. We are not the only team who has lost two games and won one, but it is still early. It’s critical to have faith in our abilities and intuition.
During the pre-match press conference in Kolkata, Dwayne Bravo stated, “We respect the opposition and their players, but it is important for our players to understand that the opposition has done their homework as well,” according to Revsportz.
The former right-handed batter responded that the team physio will have a better idea of the South African pacer’s condition before the game when asked about Anrich Nortje’s fitness. The coach acknowledged that the bowler is almost ready for the match and underlined the need of managing team combinations when he returns.
In our group, Nordje is the fastest. The physiotherapist will be able to determine his level of fitness more accurately. Although he is near, our combination also plays a role. He’s nearly prepared to leave,” he continued.
In the meantime, KKR will play Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 3 in an attempt to bounce back in front of the home fans.
