IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad 1st innings highlights against RR in Match 50

After two defeats, Sunrisers Hyderabad entered the 50th game of the Indian Premier League in 2024. After they won the toss and faced the Rajasthan Royals, Pat Cummins chose to bat first, inserting Marco Jansen in place of Aiden Markram.

With the intention of continuing their incredible run, RR entered the game with the same squad. The Royals will be the favorite to get to the IPL 2024 Playoffs as the first team if they win in Hyderabad. In the interim, let’s take a quick look at the first inning of the current game.

Six overs into the powerplay, SRH is 37/2.

The bowling team controlled the Sunrisers tightly. Avesh Khan removed Abhishek Sharma from the game after Dhruv Jurel caught him for twelve. Next, for five runs, pacer Sandeep Sharma claimed Anmolpreet Singh’s wicket.

After eight overs, SRH’s first strategic timeout was 48/2.

After witnessing so much outstanding batting this season, it was unexpected that the powerful SRH batting lineup could not muster any momentum. In order to prevent the hosts from scoring many runs, Sanju Samson’s bowlers maintained a tight grip over them.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 18 overs and 50 runs

In the ninth over, Travis Head and Nitish Reddy helped SRH surpass 50 runs when Nitish took a single off Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal was smashed for sixes by Travis Head in the next two balls, indicating a shift in strategy.

Travis Head: Half-Century off 37 balls

The Australian opener changed tack and attacked the Royals after a sluggish start. With some traditional southpaw strokemaking skills, Head attacked the opposition with a fifty-up on the board.

SRH: from 12.1 overs, 100 runs

Nitish Reddy joined in on the fun after observing his companion attempt large shots. In the 13th over, the youthful batsman helped SRH reach their 100 runs by hitting Yuzvendra Chahal for a six and then a four.

Nitish Reddy: Half-century off 30 balls

Reddy started punishing the opposition on even good deliveries, and the Hyderabad team’s runs just kept coming. With his second IPL fifty, the youthful all-rounder gave his squad a much-needed boost.

SRH: 131/3 after 15 overs at the Second Strategic Timeout

Drama abounds in the final over before the second time-out. Despite having his bat in the air, Travis Head was given a not-out, which infuriated Kumar Sangakkara. Avesh Khan knocked out the Australian batsman for 58 the very next ball.

From 16.1 overs, SRH-150 runs

Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen took the cleaners, and they also went after the Royals bowlers. To keep the pressure on the visitors, the two went on the attack.

End of Innings: SRH 201/3 off 20 Overs

The home crowd was pleased when their team managed to score 200 runs despite having a poor start to the innings. To assist SRH in posting this enormous total, Heinrich Klaasen hammered 40 runs and Nitish Reddy was not out at 76.
