After nearly a year apart, Rishabh Pant returned to the world of competitive cricket. Following a potentially fatal car accident in December 2022, the daring batter was sidelined. Despite DC’s defeat in their IPL 2024 opener against Punjab Kings, Pant’s return was the buzz of the town.
The southpaw, who batted at number four, hit two boundaries and amassed eighteen runs before Harshal Patel removed him from the game. It will take time for him to be able to perform at his best, although he would have preferred a better start to his comeback after hardships. Following his eagerly anticipated return, he talked about how it felt to take the field once more and acknowledged that he was anxious before facing the bat at Mullanpur.
“I was personally a little anxious, but this is something you have to experience when you enter the field. It’s not the first time you’re nervous, though. “I’m happy to be back in the game, but we were short of one bowler due to Ishant’s injury, and there’s not much we can do about it,” Pant stated on air following the match.

They suffered a severe hit when their main pacer, Ishant Sharma, got hurt while defending the objective. The last over was bowled by the inexperienced Sumit Kumar, who was unable to hold six runs. Pant clarified the injury worries and gave thanks to Abhishek Porel for his hard-working 32-run performance.

Ultimately, though, Abishek [Porel] contributed a couple of vital runs when he entered the game. However, we were a touch short on extra bowlers at the same time that Ishant Sharma was hurt. That, I believe, was the area where we fell short. Because, in my opinion, the boys ultimately won it back, but that’s just the nature of the game,” he continued.
