IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals' 2nd Innings Highlights against MI in Match 38

The Mumbai Indians faced table-toppers Rajasthan Royals in the 38th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field first, scoring 179/9 off 20 overs. Sandeep Sharma’s excellent comeback performance upset the opposition, as he conceded 18 runs and got five important wickets.

Check out the highlights from the second innings of the match between RR and MII at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Powerplay: RR-63/0: First strategic timeout

In response, the Rajasthan Royals started aggressively, with Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 63 runs during the powerplay. Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s two outstanding overs, the hitters took their chances and were rewarded accordingly. The other bowlers were once again expensive, and it was up to the spinners to pick up the wickets.

After a brief rain delay, Piyush Chawla made the breakthrough by dismissing Jos Buttler in the eighth over. Skipper Sanju Samson joined Jaiswal at the crease and propelled the hosts’ innings forward. The Royals’ young opener emerged as the aggressor, dominating the Mumbai Indians’ spinners.

There were a few opportunities for the Mumbai Indians, but both Nehal Wadhera and Tim David were unable to control the ball when it was most needed. The fielders blew a fantastic opportunity to send both players back to the pavilion. Even the dependable Jasprit Bumrah struggled, failing to dismiss any of the batters.

After 18.4 overs, the inning ended at 183/1.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an incredible hundred today at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, leading the fight for the table leaders. The opener scored his first IPL century in last year’s match against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, demonstrating how much he enjoys playing them. Finally, the Rajasthan Royals completed the chase with eight balls to spare, and Jaiswal capped it off appropriately.
