IPL 2024: Jaffer Criticizes KKR's New Opening Pair

On Tuesday, KKR and SRH will square off in the first IPL 2024 playoff game. Wasim Jaffer, a former cricket player, has expressed worries over KKR’s preparation for the important match on Tuesday, May 21 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Jaffer drew attention to the possible problem of Sunil Narine’s 10-day absence from the field, voicing worry that Narine’s lack of match experience would pose a problem for KKR in the forthcoming big event match.

The recent KKR vs GT match was abandoned before a ball was bowled, hence there was no play. As a result, players who were supposed to open with Narine, such as Rahmanullah Gurbaz, have lost out on crucial playing time. The departure of Phil Salt to fulfill national obligations complicates KKR’s inaugural cooperation even more.

“KKR’s initial collaboration has evolved. Similar to how SRH has been with Abhishek and Travis Head, their initial cooperation was quite successful. That collaboration has ended with Salt’s departure. Even prior to the competition, Gurbaz had no playing time in the Indian Premier League. He will therefore be rusty because Narine hasn’t played in a long, but I believe he will perform in the same manner. But clearly, Wasim Jaffer stated on ESPNcricinfo prior to the game, “Narine hasn’t played in a while, so it will be crucial to see how he plays.”

Jaffer insists that Narine’s role is unaffected by Salt’s absence and that he would continue to bat aggressively. Narine, who has amassed 461 runs at an astounding strike rate of 182.94, has undoubtedly had a spectacular IPL season.

SRH must bowl to his body rather than always going short. Jaffer highlighted the necessity of using strategic bowling against the KKR star, saying, “RCB got him out at long off, they need to consider that and try and mix up their lengths.”

High stakes are expected in the match between KKR and SRH in Qualifier 1, as the victor will get to go to the final in Chennai on May 26. Both sides will try to take advantage of their opponents’ flaws and play to their strengths as the tension rises in order to secure a spot in the championship game.
