IPL 2024: Match 34's highlights from Lucknow Super Giants' second innings vs CSK
The batting heroes for the Chennai Super Kings were Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, and Moeen Ali. The host team was under pressure after the reigning IPL 2024 champions reached 176/6 from their 20 overs.

Ajinkya Rahane got off to a strong start, scoring 36 runs, while the rest of the CSK top order found it difficult to get going. Moeen Ali made thirty off twenty balls, while Ravindra Jadeja was unbeaten on fifty-seven off forty balls. To avoid defeat, Dhoni made good use of the long handle.

50 runs from 5.2 overs for the Lucknow Super Giants

Attacking the CSK bowlers early on, KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock were chasing 177 to win. It took just two overs to destroy Tushar Deshpande for 19 runs. In the final over of the powerplay, captain Rahul took aim at Deepak Chahar to help the hosts score fifty runs.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1 to 6 (54/0 Required)

Three pacers in all used effective variations in ball speed and pace. But after hitting two sixes and four boundaries in the opening six overs, Rahul in particular seemed like he was up for the task.

84/0 from 9 overs was the first Strategic Timeout.

Early in the ninth over, Matheesha Pathirana let a simple opportunity to give the Proteas opener a fresh lease on life go through his fingers. That was their only opportunity, as the two appeared to be moving at a fast pace as they pursued a challenging goal that CSK had set.

Half-century from 31 balls for KL Rahul

Rahul chose to deliver a delayed birthday present to both himself and his followers. To put his team ahead, the 32-year-old cruised to his 23rd fifty.

A milestone is approaching: 1000 fours in the IPL by 2024

The fours are catching up quickly, even though the sixes have been flying. In order to surpass 1000 fours in the IPL 2024, the stumper-batter pulled Ravindra Jadeja for a four. Interestingly, Heinrich Klaasen, a fellow South African, was the one who first mentioned the 500 sixes in the IPL 2024.

100 runs from 10.5 overs for the Lucknow Super Giants

Rahul sliced Ravindra Jadeja for a four after reaching his fifty without letting up on his zeal. Ravindra Jadeja was dissatisfied with Mustafizur Rahman’s poor performance, which allowed LSG to reach the hundred mark in the eleventh over.

Quinton De Kock: 59 minutes, 41 balls

Veteran Quinton De Kock had an excellent innings, much like captain and opening pair KL Rahul. Despite getting off to a poor start, the left-handed hitter gained up speed and fully exploited some careless bowling from CSK.

LSG: 146/1 from 16 overs at the second strategic timeout

Quinton De Kock was the first wicket to fall for LSG after Mustafizur dismissed him for 54 runs. Nicholas Pooran signaled his intentions by smashing Pathirana over his head for a massive six after this took him to the crease.

150 runs in 16.1 overs for LSG

Nicholas Pooran struck Mustafizur for a four on the first ball following the second time-out. The 150 was raised, and with 23 balls remaining and 27 runs needed, the Lucknow Super Giants were joyfully dancing.

LSG victory: 180/2 after 19 overs

Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran ensured there were no more surprises after Rahul left the game after reaching 82 off just 53 balls. The hosts crossed the line with eight wickets remaining, and the two batsmen took their side home to an easy victory with an over remaining. It was a great day for the hosts.
