IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals’ 2nd innings highlights against MI in Match 20

The Delhi Capitals bowlers were put to the test for the second straight game. On this occasion, the Mumbai Indians emerged victorious with an impressive 235 runs in their 20 overs. On this sweltering Wankhede Stadium day, Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bat first for the host team.

Before losing to Axar Patel, Rohit Sharma had scored the most, with 49 runs. Before taking Patel’s second wicket, Ishan Kishan demonstrated excellent play to get 42 runs. Romario Shepherd gave MI the much-needed boost in the final over, while Tim David remained undefeated at 45. The top West Indian made 32 runs off of 10 balls against Anrich Nortje, finishing with 39 runs without a wicket.

Powerplay: Overs 0.1–6 (Required–46/1)

Delhi Capitals got off to a poor start because they had to chase a huge 235 to win. Hardik Pandya caught David Warner after he had scored ten runs off Romario Shepherd.

50 runs in 6.4 overs for Delhi Capitals

While Abhishek Porel was clearly having trouble, Prithvi Shaw continued to score runs at one end. In the seventh over, the required rate steadily increased and 50 was reached.

First Strategic Time-out for Delhi Capitals: 69/1 from 8 overs

Prithvi Shaw seems to be more willing to open up when Piyush Chawla was introduced. The 24-year-old scored 16 runs in his opening over against the seasoned spinner. This indicated that Delhi Capitals had 12 overs remaining and needed to score 166 runs.

Prithvi Shaw, Half-Century (Without 31 Balls)

Prithvi Shaw unleashed his signature strokes on Sunday afternoon for the Mumbai Indians bowlers. With a boundary against Gerald Coetzee, the 24-year-old achieved his 15th IPL fifty.

Delhi Capitals: in 10.2 overs, 100 runs scored

Young players Abhishek Porel and Prithvi Shaw accepted the challenge of trying to find a huge score. To keep DC in the game with the bat, the two hitters produced some powerful hits.

Second Strategic Time-out for Delhi Capitals (138/2 from 14 overs)

To give MI supporters some solace, Jasprit Bumrah removed the set Prithvi Shaw with a fantastic yorker. To keep DC in the game, however, Tristan Stubbs came out and made some incredible shots.

Warning: Jasprit Bumrah has taken 150 wickets.

In IPL history, Abhishek Porel’s wicket marked Jasprit Bumrah’s 150th wicket. He currently ranks behind Lasith Malinga as the Mumbai Indians’ second-most successful bowler.

Delhi Capitals: 15.3 overs, yielding 150 runs

In addition to dominating the MI bowlers, young Tristan Stubbs made a couple creative plays. Against Gerald Coetzee, a six was struck, and DC reached 150 with 27 balls remaining and 85 runs needed.

Tristan Stubbs, off 19 balls, half-century

Tristan Stubbs made sure that the struggling Delhi Capitals remained in the quest for the big score. With just 19 balls, the right-handed hitter struck a spectacular fifty.

Delhi Capitals: in 19 overs, 200 runs

Tristan Stubbs blasted three sixes to offer DC some hope after Romario Shepherd gave up 21 runs in the 19th over. However, such aspirations were dashed when Axar Patel was dismissed.

Delhi Capitals, after 20 overs, finished with a score of 205/8.

The timing of the Mumbai Indians’ season-opening victory was perfect. The large crowd at Wankhede Stadium let out a loud sigh of relief. Gerald Coetzee achieved his best-yet IPL cricket stats after taking four wickets with the ball.
