At the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, RCB defeated PBKS in the first half of their Qualifier 1 match. After winning the toss, RCB decided to bowl first, and their bowling assault destroyed PBKS’ top order, sending seven of their batsmen back to the pavilion before the ninth over. But the most recent casualty of the collapse was Nehal Wadhera, whose firing by Yash Dayal put a stop to Punjab’s heinous powerplay.
It was Wadhera’s duty to steady the innings as PBKS was struggling at 38 for 4. The southpaw tried to use the tempo and blasted a drive off a short-of-a-length delivery when facing Dayal in the eighth over. But the delivery took the inner edge of his bat, pitched just outside off, and smashed into the leg stump. With just 50 runs scored, Punjab was half down when Wadhera left for 8 off 10 balls.

After years of heartbreak in the league, both RCB and PBKS went into this game looking for their first IPL championship. Under Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting, PBKS qualified for the playoffs for the first time in eleven years, despite RCB going undefeated in all of their road games this season. The Bengaluru bowlers caused problems for the opposition bowlers right away.
Dayal got off to an early start when Krunal Pandya caught Priyansh Arya at covers. Returning to the starting lineup, Josh Hazlewood took advantage of the bounce to dismiss Josh Inglis and Shreyas Iyer in rapid succession. At one time, Hazlewood’s stats were 1.1 overs, two wickets, and only four runs.
In his two-over spell, leg spinner Suyash Sharma has taken out three PBKS batsmen, including a double-wicket over.
In the meantime, PBKS’ scorecard stood at 78/8 at the conclusion of the eleventh over. In order to advance to the playoffs, the Rajat Patidar-led team will be eager to finish the tail and bring the host team down to a below-par total.
