Ishant Sharma gave Sai Sudharsan and Sai Kishore high marks for their impact and general efficacy this season, respectively, with the bat and the ball.
Before the league resumes after a nine-day break, the Gujarat Titans are in second place in the current Indian Premier League. This season, they have been one of those teams that has played as a cohesive whole. So far, they have won eight of the eleven games.
“I don’t think Sai Kishore and Sai Sudharsan can perform any better than they are right now. No one is considering taking home the Purple or Orange Caps. In this structure, even a tiny contribution from a player counts as a team victory, and both are accomplishing just that. Sai Kishore is still a strong candidate for the Purple Cap even if he hasn’t bowled much. Sai Sudharsan is performing admirably. He has a thorough understanding of his game. As you can see, our club does not have many players who are pure power hitters.
He also highlighted the unique strengths of the majority of his batters.
Ishant Sharma told Star Sports, “We have someone who plays proper cricketing shots – good fours – and that irritates the bowler more because when you hit a four off a good ball, the bowler has no options.”
The seasoned fast bowler also discussed Shubhman Gill’s development as a leader, saying that he had changed into a “bowler’s captain.”
“Shubman is learning a lot in his second year as captain. Shubman follows Ashish Nehra’s advice that the captain should be the bowler’s captain first and provide them freedom. He’s developing, and I have no doubt that he will lead even more effectively in the years to come,” Ishant continued.
On Sunday, May 18, GT will play the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. (IST). Sudharsan and Gill have been outstanding hitters, scoring 509 and 508 runs in 11 innings, respectively, while Kishore has been impressive with 14 wickets in 11 games.
