India lost the Under-19 World Cup final against Australia by 79 runs due to a poor batting effort.
The Kangaroos struggled to get going as they batted first, but Hugh Weibgen, Harjas Singh, and Oliver Peake rose to the challenge and helped Australia score 253 runs in the opening half.
As they got closer, Mahli Beardman and Callum Vidler became enraged with the Men in Blue. At Willowmoore Park in Benoni, Beardman took three wickets and Vidler took two to unsettle India’s top order. Captain Uday Saharan claimed, after a devastating loss, that the middle-order batters’ reckless shots cost them the game. The 19-year-old said the lads didn’t perform well in the midst of the game despite their good preparation for the championship.
