On Day 3 of the third Test of the current series in Rajkot, India captain Rohit Sharma received high marks from former England opener Nick Knight for the way he guided the hosts against England. With a score of 207/2, England appeared to be in command early in the day.
But because of India’s amazing bowling attack and Rohit’s leadership, England lost their final eight wickets in 95 runs, and they were bowled out for 319 runs in the first innings.
The same strategy and England’s failure impressed Nick Knight. He praised the Indian bowling attack and Rohit’s ability to manage England’s batsmen, who at one stage in the match appeared dangerous.
“We discussed how Bazball operates. We are going to discuss now why it doesn’t always work. Honestly, I don’t think it was Bazball. In fact, I believe that India’s bowling performance deserves a great deal of praise; they had an excellent day. In my opinion, Rohit Sharma did a great job leading the team. We discussed hearts, and Siraj showed us plenty of that,” host Nick Knight added.
Kind of, it all began with the firing of Root: Nick Knight
In addition, Knight considered the moment on Day 3 of the Rajkot Test when things began to go wrong for England. Joe Root‘s dismissal, according to the former opener, was the catalyst for England’s collapse on the third day. Additionally, he felt that Root should not have been dismissed because he was spotted attempting to play a reverse sweep while inside the slip cordon.
What went wrong in England? It began somewhat with the Root dismissal. I believed that England had never fully recovered. India, in my opinion, overtook England somewhat, and things grew a little apprehensive. Knight remarked, “And I believed that dismissal was all about being a little tentative.”
