An NCA-style private sports complex in Kolkata will be built by former Indian player Sandeep Patil

The announcement of a cutting-edge sports facility in Kolkata that will resemble the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru represents a significant improvement to the sports infrastructure in Eastern India. Under the direction of former Indian cricket player Sandeep Patil, this large-scale project intends to transform sports rehabilitation and training in the area.

Cricket, tennis, football, and basketball are just a few of the sports for which the facility is expected to serve as a basis. It’s at the Athlead International School in Joka and is expected to revolutionise the sports landscape for athletes from North-East and Eastern India.

As the leader of this endeavour, Patil—a former NCA director and chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India—has been named for a five-year term. The former disclosed his role in an open manner.

“I took some time to say yes when they (Shrachi Sports Ventures) approached me. What they are planning to offer Indian cricket is incredibly appealing to me. According to India Today, Patil stated, “That’s how I’ve agreed.”

Along with Gautam Shome, sports therapist Ashish Kaushik, and Dinesh Nanavati, the 67-year-old has brought in his trusted staff from NCA.

With this group’s experience at the centre of operations, the facility will provide excellent training and rehabilitation services. Providing all-encompassing assistance to local cricket players is one of this facility’s main goals.

“I’ve brought everyone that I went to NCA with, including Nanavati, Ashish, and Shome. This is where a team will work. The facility and instructors will take care of all the cricket players’ needs going forward, so none of them will need to go outside for rehabilitation or fitness-related difficulties,” Patil continued.

Plans for a football academy directed by former India custodian Bhaskar Ganguly were disclosed by Rahul Todi, managing director of the Shrachi Group. Because of the facility’s emphasis on many sports, tennis legend Leander Paes will also be in charge of the tennis programme.

In order to devote himself entirely to the programme and devote all of his knowledge to the advancement of sports in that area, Patil has made the decision to move to the city of pleasure.

“I have not come to oversee or lead the journey. I have been in Kolkata for five years now. Having never done this before, I don’t think I can accomplish this while I’m still in Mumbai. Patil concluded, “I made sure I stayed there fully when I was a coach of Kenya, Oman, or Madhya Pradesh.
