In preparation for the forthcoming ODI series in Australia, the Indian squad left Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday, October 15. Three ODIs are planned for the team captained by Shubman Gill, starting on October 19.
The majority of the travelling team, including support personnel, had already arrived in Delhi following their participation in the second Test match against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Before leaving, players who don’t play red-ball cricket, like Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Virat Kohli, joined the team.
Earlier, social media users shared videos of Rohit departing Mumbai and Kohli arriving in Delhi. Fans flocked to the airport in droves to say goodbye and wish the Indian team success on their important trip to Australia, as was to be expected.

India will play their first ODI after their successful 2025 Champions Trophy campaign in the forthcoming series.
After recently succeeding veteran batsman Rohit, this is Gill’s first series as ODI skipper. In their most recent ODI visit to Australia, India lost the series 1-2. Despite avoiding a whitewash, the team lost a high-scoring match during that series.
With a fresh emphasis on older players Rohit and Kohli, who are nearing the end of their careers, the team has experienced a significant overhaul since then. The famous Adelaide Oval and Sydney Cricket Ground will host the ODIs. India will play Australia in a five-match Twenty20 International series after the ODI series, which is a crucial prelude to the 2026 T20 World Cup.
“It will be another two and a half years before the World Cup. We must remain in the moment. Gambhir stated during the Delhi press conference, “I hope both of them have a successful tour, and more importantly, the team has a successful tour.”
