In preparation for the upcoming five-match Test series against England, Karun Nair recently made his eagerly anticipated return to the Indian Test team. His second stay in the game’s longest format has been made possible by his consistent performances on the home circuit.
A well-known Indian cricketer previously suggested that Nair quit and concentrate on playing in franchise T20 competitions, where there is a lot of financial stability, Nair disclosed before of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The Vidarbha batsman, however, continued to work hard and disprove sceptics with his bat in domestic cricket, refusing to let the setback dampen his enthusiasm.
“I still recall a well-known Indian cricket player telling me over the phone that I should quit since the money in these leagues would insure my future. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Karun Nair recalled the incident from two years ago and stated, “I knew that regardless of the money, I would be kicking myself for giving up that easily, even though it would have been easy to do.”
Karun Nair stated that he believed he had the ability set to play at the highest level and was determined not to give up on his goal of playing for India once more.
“Playing for India was something I would never give up on. Just over two years have passed since then, and now look where we are. It’s odd, but I knew in my heart that I was good enough,” he continued.
In November 2016, the Jodhpur native made his debut for his country against England. Karun Nair hit an aggressive 303 not out off 381 balls in Chennai during his third Test match against the Three Lions. But following this spectacular knock, he was only able to play three more games before being dropped. Nair averages 62.33 in six Tests. In two Twenty20 Internationals, he has also played for India.
He scored a double century for India A in an unofficial Test match against the England Lions in Canterbury last month to kick off his tour of England. The selectors were kindly reminded that he is prepared to start in the Test series against Ben Stokes and company.
