Over his professional career, Rahul Dravid has experienced a great deal of heartbreak. In his playing career, the 51-year-old finished last in the ODI World Cup 2003 and was eliminated in the group stage of the 2007 tournament, where he also served as team captain. In addition to failing to win the IPL as a coach and player, he was not selected for the 2011 ODI World Cup.
After he returned to the national team in 2021, India lost to England in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal and to the United States in the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals. Nonetheless, he has had cup success at last, as the Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup in 2024 while he was their coach.
As a player, Rahul Dravid led Indian to greater heights and scored a lot of runs. Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar requested
that the Indian government give Dravid consideration for the Bharat Ratna award, citing his significant contribution. It is noteworthy that this is the highest civilian accolade bestowed by the Republic of India, and Gavaskar believes that Dravid has accomplished sufficient to warrant such an honour.
Since that is what he has really been, it would be appropriate if the Indian government awarded him the Bharat Ratna. Great player and national captain, having won renowned away series in the West Indies when victories there meant a great deal. He also won in England, where he was one of only three Indian captains to win a series of Test matches. Remarkably, Sachin Tendulkar is still the only cricket player to have received the Bharat Ratna award. Gavaskar stated that Dravid deserved to be taken into consideration because of his accomplishments, which have brought immense delight to the nation and cheered people from all political backgrounds, castes, creeds, and groups.
