Indian cricket has been quite consistent, particularly in the past year: Rahul Dravid
Indian team advanced to the final four of the T20 World Cup 2024 after overcoming England in the second semifinal. In the championship match, the team will play South Africa, who has never lost, in the grand final of the major event.

Recently, India has been extremely successful in ICC events, and under Rahul Dravid’s guidance, India has fared well even though they haven’t won any major titles. The team advanced to the finals of the World T20 Championship in 2024, the ODI World Cup in 2023, and the WTC in 2023.

Having lost their previous two ICC finals, the Men in Blue will be hoping that they can avoid losing against South Africa. Rahul Dravid spoke in front of the crowd before the game, complimenting his team on their consistent play.

“It’s encouraging that we are playing quality cricket consistently. Playing in the finals and holding the top spot in all three forms has been beneficial for many years, particularly in the past year as you mentioned. It greatly acknowledges the boys—many of whom play Test cricket—as well as our one-day and T20 players. It is therefore quite pleasing that Indian cricket has demonstrated such consistency. Dravid stated at the pre-game news conference, as cited by India Today, “And what you asked later, that if we play well and if we have the rub of the green, then we will win.”

Rahul Dravid also discussed the team’s preparations for the World Cup championship game. Notably, India’s head coach emphasised the significance of maintaining physical and mental fitness when he called off the team’s practice session due to the short turnaround before the top match.

“As for our preparation alone, I believe it’s doubtful that we will practise because we have a travel later tonight and will likely return to Barbados late. We just have one day left. Dravid stated, “It’s just about all the guys getting into making sure we are physically, mentally, and tactically ready for the game.”
