In what is anticipated to be the first international match at the completely renovated WACA in Perth, India Women will play a day-night Test match against Australia there in March.
The Test, which takes place from March 6 to 9, is a part of a trip that starts in mid-February after the WPL and consists of three T20Is and three ODIs. In 2021, India last played a day-night Test match on the Gold Coast. Due to scheduled work at the ground, the MCG, which hosted this season’s Ashes Test, was not an option.
In February 2024, Australia held a day Test match against South Africa at the WACA. With Annabel Sutherland scoring a double century, Australia triumphed by innings and 284 runs. In order to be ready for the Test the following year, the ground has undergone significant construction in recent seasons.
Cricket Australia’s biggest women’s series currently takes place outside of the school holiday time due to the WPL switching to a new window in January, even though the calendar has been adjusted to fit as many games as feasible around weekends.
Major sites will once again host Twenty20 Internationals. The first match will take place at the SCG on February 15, the second in Canberra on February 19, and the third at Adelaide Oval on February 21. Although there is presently opposition from locals to plans, the third ODI at Junction Oval in Melbourne on March 1 is scheduled to be the first day-night international at the site, which is scheduled to have lights erected during the winter.
After this season’s Ashes, Australia won’t have played at home for over a year when the India tour begins.
There won’t be any early-season internationals because of the ODI World Cup, which will begin in India in late September. Prior to the competition, Australia and India will play a one-day series in India.
The WBBL, whose dates will be revealed later in the year, will also be impacted by the World Cup, which may conclude on November 2. The WBBL will begin later than usual and stretch into early December, which is very near to when the BBL begins.
For the second straight season, India A is scheduled to travel to Australia before the senior team; the exact schedule will be announced later.
