India will face England in their first World Cup 2023 warm-up match in Guwahati.

According to the ICC’s published schedule, India will play its final warm-up match against a qualifying team in Thiruvananthapuram on October 3. This is five days before India’s World Cup opener against Australia in Chennai.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has selected the state capital’s Greenfield Stadium to host four warm-up games. Notably, the venue will not host any of the events in the tournament’s main draw.

In addition to India, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and the qualifying nations will compete in warm-up matches in Thiruvananthapuram. These contests will take place from September 29 to October 3. Guwahati and Hyderabad are the other two locations that will host World Cup practice matches.

Beginning with the September 29 match between South Africa and Afghanistan, Greenfield in Thiruvananthapuram will host World Cup warm-up matches. After that, on September 30, Australia will face a qualifying team in a match. South Africa will compete against New Zealand on October 2. Four contests in Thiruvananthapuram will be broadcast live on television. The original schedule is, however, subject to change.

“Fans will be able to watch their favourite players compete for the best six teams during their warm-up games. It would be akin to hosting a mini-tournament in only five days, according to KCA president Jayesh George, who was quoted by TOI.

Also excluded from the ICC’s World Cup schedule are the PCA stadium in Mohali, the SCA stadium in Rajkot, and the VCA Jamtha in Nagpur, among other renowned cricket venues.

“We should be thankful for the opportunity to host four World Cup warm-up games.” Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, is responsible for the ICC’s decision to allocate these warm-up games to a venue that is not owned by a state cricket association, as the stadium has been leased to KCA,” Jayesh added.

Warm-up schedule for the World Cup in Thiruvananthapuram:

South Africa takes on Afghanistan on September 29.
30-September-Australia versus Qualifier
Two-october-two: New Zealand versus South Africa
3 October – India vs. Qualification
