On Saturday, February 3, during the second day of the India vs. England second Test in Visakhapatnam, India captain Rohit Sharma was once again overheard making one of his signature remarks.
The captain of India was amusingly spotted chatting with Marais Erasmus, the on-field umpire, during the 26th over of England’s innings, regarding whether or not to request a review.
Jasprit Bumrah smacked Jonny Bairstow on his pads with a yorker on his first delivery of the over, which resulted in the incident. The umpire, Marais Erasmus, did not lift his finger despite the entire Indian team making an appeal. As a result, the Indian captain started debating whether or not to seek a review with Bumrah and wicketkeeper KS Bharat. Returning to the game, India concluded their innings at 396 after adding 60 runs to their overnight score of 336. At the age of 21, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved his first double hundred in Test cricket, making him the third-youngest Indian to reach the landmark. With 19 fours and seven sixes in a brilliant 209 (290) over-inning, the southpaw batted.
After Jaiswal’s batting display, England watched as Jasprit Bumrah tore through their batting order and recorded his best-ever statistics in India. It was a masterclass in reverse swing.
Joe Root (5 off 10), Ollie Pope (23 off 55), Jonny Bairstow (25 off 39), Ben Stokes (47 off 54), Tom Hartley (21 off 24), and James Anderson (6 off 19) were among the highly sought-after scalps for which the speedster bagged statistics of 6/45 in 15.5 overs.
