The visiting India “A” team will be the opponent of India’s internal warm-up match. From 15 November to 17 November, 2024, the ‘A’ team, who by that time would have played a two-match series, will participate in a three-day practice match at the WACA.
India ‘A’, who will have a few Test regulars at their disposal and are likely to be captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, will have faced Australia ‘A’ in a few matches. The Great Barrier Reef Arena will host the first game from October 31 to November 3. The Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the second game from November 7 to November 10.
Within a week, the India ‘A’ team is expected to be announced.
At a press conference on Monday, Cricket Australia’s top selector, George Bailey, will reveal the members of Australia ‘A’ and its members. Additionally, there will be a notification on Cameron Green, who may miss the entire series owing to a back injury, according to circulating sources.
A CA official revealed little about the previously reported warm-up game, stating that the Board of Control for Cricket in India would be solely responsible for selecting the members they desired.
“How India uses the game is up to them because it’s (an) internal contest. It is again up to the BCCI, but it is possible that several Test players will participate in the India A matches. Warm-up games don’t seem to be played by many nations anymore. As reported, the CA official said, “Australia didn’t play any before the last series in India.”
Peter Roach, CA’s Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, also disclosed that the A team games would be an excellent venue for the up-and-coming players to demonstrate their skills.
“Hosting those A matches at the upgraded Great Barrier Reef Arena and the MCG gives these A matches significant status and will provide great opportunities to players from both sides to put up their hand for selection,” said Roach.

The new Perth Stadium will host the inaugural Test match on November 22.
