Brett Lee, a former cricket player for Australia, has been fascinated with Mayank Yadav since the 2024 Indian Premier League. Mayank consistently hit the 150 kmph barrier, which caused problems for the batters.
Lee said that if Mohammed Shami doesn’t get well in time, India should take him into consideration for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts in Perth on November 22. For the home series against New Zealand, Mayank is presently a reserve bowler. The team management is closely monitoring the young pacer, and if deemed suitable, he may visit Australia.
“It’s fantastic that I get to work on the IPL and watch so many talented young Indian cricket players.” Recently, Mayank Yadav watched his first IPL match and hit a top speed of 157 kmph. Unfortunately, Lee told Fox Cricket, “I think his franchise brought him a little early, and he did his side again.”
“What’s amazing about India is that they don’t care how much cricket a player has played or hasn’t played; if he’s ready to go, let him. That theory is really fantastic. I can tell you that batters are fine when you bowl speeds between 135 and 140 kmph, but nobody wants to deal with high 150s, regardless of who it is. If Mohammed Shami isn’t ready, at least include him in the team because he seems like the whole package. Lee said, “I believe he would perform admirably on these Australian wickets.”

According to Lee, Shami will be crucial for the visitors if he recovers before the series. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were also praised by him, who said that the latter can exert pressure on the Pat Cummins-led team and make the new ball talk. Additionally, he reminded Australia of the skills of spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ashwin has that lovely shape when he bowls spin, and he is getting close to 600 wickets. Though I believe Shami can hold the key if India needs to win there, he can bowl with the new ball as well.

As everyone knows, Jasprit Bumrah is a fantastic example of reverse swing and can bowl both ways. “The new ball can talk thanks to Mohammed Siraj,” he remarked.
