The Indian squad has added Shivam Dube as an additional all-around option with the 2024 T20 World Cup looming. When he was handed the ball in the T20I series against Afghanistan in January, he performed passably. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar observed this and pointed out that Australia produces more all-rounders than IND does.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, India is paired with Pakistan as their other strong opponent in Group A. On June 5, Rohit Sharma and company will play Ireland in their World Cup debut in New York. On June 1, India will play a pre-tournament warm-up match against their Asian rivals, Bangladesh. The United States of America and Canada are the other teams in Group A.
