Regarding the likelihood of an India-Pakistan series, PCB president Mohsin Naqvi said, "There are promising opportunities

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has made hints about the potential for the much anticipated India-Pakistan cricket series. Because of political problems between the two countries, supporters of both countries have been denied bilateral cricket matches for more than 10 years. However, this development has given them hope again.

India and Pakistan have one of the fiercest and most cherished rivalries in sports history when it comes to cricket. But the most recent bilateral series between these two titans of cricket happened in 2012–13. Their interactions have been restricted to international competitions ever then.

Naqvi’s remarks raise the possibility of a breakthrough in the protracted standstill. The PCB Chairman reportedly said that there are good chances for an India-Pakistan series, according to Cricket Pakistan. He even implied that neutral locations like Australia might not be the only place such a series was held.

“The PCB Chairman suggested that there are promising opportunities for an India-Pakistan series, not limited to playing in Australia, hinting at potential good news for cricket fans eager to see the historic rivalry revived,” according to a report from Cricket Pakistan.

The cricket players will need to pass the fitness test in order to: Mohsin Naqvi

Pakistan would host every Champions Trophy game in 2025, Naqvi confirmed. More significantly, he signalled momentum in the right direction with regard to India’s entry in the competition, which may be a significant step towards normalising cricket relations between the two countries.

It’s important to remember, though, that there has been no formal confirmation as of yet on whether the Indian cricket team would visit Pakistan for their 2025 Champions Trophy matches. Naqvi also talked about the significance of player fitness and playing domestic cricket. He stressed that Yo-Yo testing is required of all cricket players for Pakistan.

“The cricket players will need to clear the fitness test. Fitness standards won’t be compromised; passing every fitness exam, including the Yo-Yo test, will be mandatory. The PCB president declared, “Players who do not play domestic cricket will not be eligible to rejoin the national team.”

The Men in Green will next be seen in action against Bangladesh for a two-match Test series at home, beginning on August 21 in Rawalpindi, following a disappointing T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.
