11,000 security personnel will be on duty for the India-Pakistan match at the ODI World Cup in 2023.

According to Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police G S Malik, threats led to the creation of a high-level security setup for the India-Pakistan ODI World Cup match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

On October 14, the most competitive cricket match in history will take place at the largest cricket stadium in the globe.

In Ahmedabad and the stadium, there will be more than 11,000 security guards from various organizations, including the Gujarat Police, NSG, RAF, and home guards. Even though there hasn’t been any racial violence in Ahmedabad during cricket matches played in the city in the past 20 years, security personnel will be stationed at critical locations out of an abundance of caution.

On October 9, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met with the state’s DGP Vikas Sahay, G S Malik, and other top law enforcement officials in Gandhinagar. The chief minister looked through the security plans and instructed the police to take all required precautions to make sure the event went off without a hitch, according to Malik, who spoke at a press conference after the meeting.

“We will deploy over 4,000 home guards in addition to more than 7,000 police officers to protect the stadium and uphold law and order in the city’s politically sensitive neighborhoods throughout the game. We will also send out three NSG “hit teams” and a team to hunt out drones in addition to these individuals. We’ll also make use of nine teams from our bomb-detection and -destroy unit,” Malik said.

On the day of the game, the security personnel will be supervised and controlled by four senior IPS officers, including the inspector general and deputy inspector general, and 21 deputy commissioner of police (DCP) rank officers.

Three companies of the Rapid Action Force will be deployed in addition to the 13 companies of the State Reserve Police (SRP) as part of our security structure. Publicly sensitive regions of the city will be under the RAF’s watchful eye. We have previously planned how to evacuate people in the event of a stampede, and there are currently drills taking place at the stadium,” Malik continued.

Bombing threat is sent to Mumbai Police

There are rumors that the prime minister will be hurt and the Ahmedabad stadium would be blown up after Mumbai Police got an email from an unknown sender. A release of notorious mobster Lawrence Bishnoi was also requested, along with 500 crore Indian rupees. But GS Malik claimed that these threats have been “assessed” and that the city police are ready to handle any situation.

“We evaluated these threats, and our deployment strategy was developed appropriately. Furthermore, with over 100,000 expected spectators for the game, such a complex security setup is required. We also considered the fact that the game would be delicate and would cause a commotion within the community,” Malik added.
