After India defeated England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in 2024, R Ashwin and Wasim Jaffer pulled Michael Vaughan’s leg

There was a lot of social media activity after India beat England in the semi-final, but the best part was the friendly joke between the former Indian and English cricket players.

After India defeated England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in 2024, R Ashwin and Wasim Jaffer pulled Michael Vaughan's leg
Following India’s convincing win over England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final in Guyana, which sent Rohit Sharma and company to the tournament final, a lighthearted conversation between Wasim Jaffer, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Michael Vaughan transpired. The cricketers from India made fun of Vaughan for his suggestion that India was given an advantage in terms of logistics and other factors in the tournament schedule.

Widely known for his candid remarks, Vaughan was quick to praise India’s performance, writing on social media that they “preeminent team” of the tournament and that they deserved a spot in the championship game. He did, however, highlight India’s strength on similar surfaces and gently alluded to the difficulties England would encounter on low, spin-friendly fields, such as the one at the Providence Stadium.

India throughly deserve to be in the final .. The best team in tournament so far .. Was always going to hard for England on this pitch .. India just so much better on lower slower spinning pitches .. #T20IWorldCup

In a clever response to Vaughan’s tweet, Ashwin summoned his inner engineer and cleverly suggested that India had surpassed England by using a series of basic integration formulas.

∫ 1 dx = x + C. ∫ a dx = ax+ C. ∫ xn dx = ((xn+1)/(n+1))+C ; n≠1.

Hence, India won. 🤝 https://t.co/0xGRGCQtu4

To execute a practical joke on Vaughan, Jaffer, who is well-known for his online repartee with the actor, posted a funny video of a kid. After the crushing defeat that ended England’s prospects of defending their crown, he questioned his own well-being.

Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to field, hence heading into the game, IND was placed at bat. Even though Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant made mistakes early on, the Mumbai team, led by captain Rohit Sharma and the explosive Suryakumar Yadav, executed calculated blows to score crucial runs of 47 and 57, respectively. India scored a competitive 171/7 thanks in large part to their performances. Leg spinners Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone were particularly impressive, giving up only 49 runs in their eight overs combined.

Even with such a strong English batting lineup, it was expected that the chase would be difficult due to a well-balanced IND bowling attack. A run chase that seemed interesting quickly descended into a collapse for the batting order, with the top scores being 25, 23, and 21. Two more wickets were taken by pace-bowling maestro Jasprit Bumrah, while left-arm spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav each took three.
