Cricket fans, especially those from the Indian diaspora, are incredibly excited about the October–November Australia vs. India white ball series. With almost 90,000 tickets sold to the eight matches in just two weeks of public sales, the white ball matches are likewise in hot demand after the Ashes’ record ticket sales.
Four months before the game, all of the public tickets for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval (Canberra) T20I were sold out, demonstrating the tremendous demand for these events. The MCG T20I and Gabba T20II are also selling well.
Indian fan clubs have bought more than sixteen percent of the tickets available thus far, according to Cricket Australia.
Among the most active fan clubs, Bharat Army has bought more than 2,400 tickets. With over 1,400 tickets purchased, Fans India has also demonstrated a great deal of enthusiasm.
Furthermore, Indian Community of Gold Coast and Pakka Local have each bought over 500 tickets for the Gold Coast and MCG T20Is, while Amit Goyal from Brissy Baniyas, an Aggarwal community, has purchased 880 tickets for the Gabba T20I, making him the highest individual buyer for a single match.
“Exhausting our public ticket allocation for the SCG ODI and Manuka Oval T20I four months before the series is a testament to the tremendous interest for the upcoming season among cricket fans,” said Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager Events & Operations Cricket Australia.
“After a historic Border Gavaskar series last summer, we are overjoyed to witness the Indian diaspora’s ongoing strong engagement. With a large number of Australian and Indian supporters expected to attend, every game will once again have an amazing atmosphere.
“We encourage fans to purchase early to avoid missing out on the action as there is tremendous interest in what looks to be our biggest summer of cricket ever.”
The Women’s Series and Men’s Ashes matches versus India are available to Australian fans on Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Seven, and 7plus. The Men’s ODI and T20I Series versus South Africa and India will also be televised by Foxtel and Kayo Sports. This season, fans can also watch international cricket on SEN, ABC, and Triple M.
