India and Nepal

As is well known, the eagerly awaited match between India and Pakistan was canceled on Saturday night, September 2, leaving a large number of ardent fans in Kandy dissatisfied.

The weather had other intentions for this game, which cricket fans all across the world were anxiously anticipating. The game had already been delayed twice during India’s innings, but it never halted during Pakistan’s innings, which was crucial.

The rain gods had no compassion as the stadium was humming with activity and Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf were wrecking havoc on the Indian top order. The first ODI between India and Pakistan since the 2019 World Cup was ultimately called off.

Team India is now preparing for a match against Nepal in the hopes of better weather. The odds aren’t good, though, as Sri Lanka rarely schedules cricket matches in September because of the monsoon season.

Following previous days of severe rain in Pallekele and Colombo, reports indicate that there is an 89 percent chance of precipitation and a 26 percent possibility of thunderstorms. Between 11 am and 4 pm, rain is predicted, which could delay travel.

Due to the persistent rain on Sunday, the Indian squad elected to forgo practice, but Nepal was present and engaged in an indoor training session.

What will happen if the match against Nepal is again postponed? This is a great concern for Indian supporters right now. Each team must play a minimum of 20 overs according to the rules for a decision. Scores will be modified if a delayed start results in fewer overs.

Both teams will receive one point if India-Nepal has the same outcome as India-Pakistan. With a total of two points from the two postponed games in the group round, India will proceed to the Super Four competition, eliminating Nepal. Fans would be hoping to watch the entire game here.
