India A is preparing to play South Africa A in a three-match Test series in advance of the highly anticipated next Test series, which is scheduled to start on December 26. Important members of the senior Test team have joined India A ahead of schedule for a “shadow tour” in order to guarantee a solid foundation and serve as a prelude to the main event.
The BCCI has historically arranged ‘A’ team visits to nations where Test matches involving the senior squad are scheduled. But after the Bangladesh series, these developmental cricket trips, including the U-19 series, were neglected because of the ODI World Cup last year.
On November 30, the Men’s Selection Committee met in New Delhi to choose the Team India roster for their forthcoming trip of South Africa, which would consist of three Twenty20 Internationals, three One-Day Internationals, and two Test matches. In addition to these scheduled games, India A will play an intra-squad three-day encounter and two four-day matches against South Africa A during the visit.
