Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat against India in the second ODI at the R. Premadasa Stadium. Following the dismissal of Pathum Nissanka, the relationship initially began to mend, but Kusal Mendis was sent back for 40. After that, Sri Lanka was struggling at 136/6 by the 35th over as the hosts surrendered in to pressure from the spinners in the middle overs.
The second ODI saw Sri Lanka defeat India by 32 runs. Sri Lanka managed to reach 240/9 in the 50 overs given, thanks to the contributions of Kamindu Mendis (40 off 44), Avishka Fernando (40 off 62), and Dunith Wellalage (39 off 35).
Rohit Sharma, the team captain, scored 64 runs off of 44 balls, and Shubman Gill scored 35 runs off of 44 balls, giving the Men in Blue a decent start. In the second ODI, India’s batting lineup—Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul—was unable to help the team win. Jeffrey Vandersay of Sri Lanka was the game’s MVP as he claimed six significant wickets to help his side prevent the Men in Blue from pursuing the target.
From the minute he arrived in the 12th over, Vandersay dominated the match against India. With 33 runs in his 10 overs and 6 wickets, it was his greatest ODI performance to date.

Regarding the Indian squad, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar were the standout players for the Men in Blue. They each claimed two and three wickets, respectively.
