IND vs NZ: 1st Test, Weather Report, Day 5 Weather Insights

After 36 years, New Zealand only needs to score 107 runs to win the first Test match between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru. Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant helped the Indian team out of a difficult situation on Day 4 of the Test by hitting 150 and 99 runs, respectively.

Bad light interfered with India’s plans to defend the total in the second half of the final session. Heavy rain followed the conversations that Rohit Sharma and his team were having with the umpires. Day 4 consequently concluded early, with three sessions left for New Zealand to complete the objective and just 107 runs left for India to defend and pull off a final recovery.

The weather in Bengaluru, however, speaks a different language. “Thunderstorms in the area late Saturday night through Sunday evening” is what AccuWeather predicts will occur on Sunday, October 20, Day 5 of the test. There will also be “generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers” in Bengaluru on Sunday, according to the Indian Met Department’s forecast.

The first test was canceled due to heavy rain on the first day.

Notably, the relentless rains caused the first day of the Test to be canceled. Nonetheless, the world-renowned M Chinnaswamy Stadium boasts an integrated subsurface aeration system and a top-notch drainage system. This will enable the action to resume within a few minutes following each rainstorm.

Regarding the home team’s supremacy, Team India has only dropped one Test in 2024 and is on track to make it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third time in a row.
