After his and the Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 campaign came to an end, star batsman KL Rahul is probably going to depart early for the England series. The top batsman wants to play in India A’s second unofficial encounter against England Lions in Northampton on June 6 in order to try to adjust to the conditions before joining the main team for a crucial five-match series that begins later this month.
Kl Rahul was initially scheduled to depart on June 6 along with the other members of the Indian Test team.
His trip was scheduled to accompany the Indian squad because the Delhi Capitals were still in the current IPL season when the Indian selection was named. Rahul’s campaign is now over as DC has concluded their season.
According to The Times of India, the Karnataka batsman has chosen to depart earlier than his teammates for the United Kingdom in an attempt to maximise his time before the Test series against England begins. Prior to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, the star batsman performed a similar act while playing for India A on tour against the Prime Minister’s XI.
Kl Rahul took an early flight to Australia before to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–2025 in order to better familiarise himself with the conditions. According to the story, Rahul asked the BCCI to allow him to travel to the UK ahead of schedule and was granted permission to do so, along with all the equipment he would need to practise before the series began.
Kl Rahul, however, had to leave early due to the bad weather in Bengaluru and Mumbai, two large cities. The 33-year-old has insisted on playing for the A team, where Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are also expected to be available, after having an outstanding IPL season as a specialist batter for DC.
India A starts working with the England Lions.
Regarding the first unofficial Test that has already begun, Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Abhimanyu Easwaran opened but did not make an impression against the England Lions on the first day. The squad was saved by the outstanding batting performances of the following two hitters, Karun Nair and Sarfaraz Khan. After the visitors were 51 for 2 at one point, the pair, who had already built on a partnership of more than 150 at the time of writing, batted for more than an hour and a half to steady the ship.
