IND vs BAN prepare for lower bounce on the black-soil pitch in Kanpur

The Green Park surface is anticipated to be flatter than the real bounce in Chennai, which took place across four days.

IND vs BAN prepare for lower bounce on the black-soil pitch in Kanpur

Black earth will replace red soil. It won’t last long to bounce and carry. Avoid expecting a rank-turner as well. That, in essence, is probably the kind of surface that Green Park in Kanpur will have when the second and final Test match between IND vs BAN begins on September 27.

It is anticipated that the Green Park pitch would have a flatter bounce, with the surface decreasing slower as the Test progresses, in contrast to the genuine bounce that occurred throughout the course of the first Test’s four days in Chennai last week. This is a result of the pitch’s concentration of black soil.

The seamers and spinners of both teams fetched good bounce on the Chepauk pitch, in contrast. That resulted from the red soil used for the pitch being transported from Mumbai two years prior. Both teams used three fast bowlers, largely because of the bounce. The Indian duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who combined for nine wickets in Bangladesh’s second innings, demonstrated that the Chepauk pitch provided adequate bounce and turn for spinners even though the degree of turn was not particularly great.

The slower Kanpur pitch will undoubtedly alter the lineups of both sides. A third spinner could probably take the place of the third seamer. This implies that both Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav may have an opportunity to play for India.

Shakib Al Hasan, who already has a sore left index finger, took a blow on the fourth day of batting, according to Bangladesh’s selector Hannan Sarkar, who made the announcement on Monday in Chennai. Bangladesh may substitute left-arm spinner Taijul Islam for Nahid Rana, even if Shakib plays the Test as an all-rounder. Offspinner Nayeem Hasan is another member of the visiting team. Bangladesh still prefers to have three spinners in their lineup, thus he only enters the picture in the event that Shakib is unable to play.

India used three spinners—Axar, Jadeja, and Ashwin—in the final Test match held at Kanpur in 2021 against New Zealand. That was the first Test match played there versus New Zealand since 2016. Both of the tests had a five-day duration, which was a recurrent theme. While India won the game handily in 2016, the New Zealand hitters put up a great fight to tie the game in 2021.

In the lack of surface tricks, hitters can score big and breathe easy, while bowlers will likely have a difficult time getting anything done. Shreyas Iyer made history in the 2021.

Test match by scoring a century and a fifty on his debut, while Tom Latham, playing in defence of Indian spinners, produced a rare display of batsmanship by scoring two half-centuries.
