For their two-match, unofficial, multi-day series against Australia A in September, Shreyas Iyer has been chosen to captain India A.
On Saturday, September 6, the Senior Men’s Selection Committee made the team public.
N Jagadeesan has been selected as the second-choice wicketkeeper, and wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has been named the vice-captain. It is anticipated that Ayush Badoni will stabilise the middle order.
Gurnoor Brar, Yash Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, and Prasidh Krishna make up the pace battery. Nitish Kumar Reddy, an excellent all-around player, has also been selected. Mumbai’s Tanush Kotian will be joined by Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar, a left-arm spin combination, adding diversity to the spin-bowling team.
Notably, Mohammed Siraj and KL Rahul will be included in the squad for the second multi-day game. Following the first game, they will swap out two players in the squad. After playing in an intense England series, the two players are currently taking it easy after not making the shortlist for India’s Asia Cup 2025 roster.
The Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host both of the unofficial Test matches. The first match is scheduled for September 16–19, and the second one is scheduled for September 23–26.
Three unofficial ODIs will follow the two-match series. The Green Park in Kanpur is the planned venue for the white-ball competitions. Three ODIs and five T20Is will be played by the senior teams in Australia between October and November.
