On the reserve day of the Asia Cup match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India’s left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav savoured a brilliant performance with the ball against arch-rivals Pakistan. Kuldeep told out about the mechanical modifications he made to thrive in the One-Day format after team India’s convincing 228-run victory.
Notably, Kuldeep Yadav wowed with the ball, taking a spectacular five-wicket haul while only allowing 25 runs to be scored in his eight overs at an incredible economy of 3.12. Kuldeep noted that he adjusted his run-up after having knee surgery and concentrated on adopting an aggressive approach, which has helped him recently by giving him more wickets.
After having knee surgery, I have been playing regularly for the past 1.5 years. My warm-up has been a little too straight. During the post-game presentation, Kuldeep stated, “There is more aggression in my bowling rhythm, the approach to the crease is good, and possibly earlier, my bowling hand used to fall a lot; it’s under control now and it is now looking more towards the batsman.
“At the same time, my spin and drift are still present, and my pace has increased. This is why it’s benefiting me. I’ve been obsessing for a while now over regularly hitting those nice distances since it increases your chances of getting wickets. It’s actually helping me a lot that I’m bowling a little more aggressively and consistently hitting the stumps,” he continued.
I’ll always treasure this accusation against Pakistan. Kuldeep Yadav
Happy with his five-wicket haul against the Men in Green, a happy Kuldeep Yadav went on to say that such performances ‘lift’ the morale and he will remember it even after calling it quits in cricket.
“It really increases your spirit when you take up five wickets against a big team. I will cherish this goal against Pakistan no matter when I retire,” he continued.
The Men in Blue will play co-hosts Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 12, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo following their emphatic victory against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and company will move closer to securing a spot in the championship game of the ACC competition with a win over the Lankan Lions.
