A bilateral white-ball series between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is being discussed for the July–August window in Bangladesh. Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) are anticipated in the proposed series, which is not part of the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP).
Pakistan and Bangladesh are currently competing in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025; on February 27, Bangladesh will meet Pakistan in Rawalpindi in their final group-stage match. According to the ICC FTP calendar, the Bengal Tigers’ next away trip after the tournament is a trip to Pakistan in May, when they will play three ODIs and three T20Is.
Nonetheless, during the short window in July and August, the two boards are searching for the potential of adding another bilateral series in Bangladesh. This would happen in between Bangladesh’s planned series against India in August and their home series against Sri Lanka in June and July.
In order to determine whether the series was feasible, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and BCB President Faruque Ahmed allegedly met at the recent ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai.
The BCB’s cricket operations chief, Shahriar Nafees, affirmed that both boards are expressing interest in the plan.
“This is being discussed, and both boards are in favor of it. It will be made public after it is finalized. According to Shahriar Nafees, in-charge of BCB’s cricket operations, it would probably take place in between the home series between Sri Lanka and India, as reported by The Daily Star.
Due to the hectic schedules of both teams, managing this series will be difficult. Since Pakistan is already scheduled to host Afghanistan and tour the West Indies in July and August, PCB will need to change its schedule to make room for the series. If confirmed, the Pakistan series would add to Bangladesh’s already packed 2025 schedule.
Bangladesh will play two Test matches against Zimbabwe in April after winning the Champions Trophy. In June and July, they will host Sri Lanka for a series consisting of two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. Bangladesh will host India for three ODIs and three T20Is in August following the projected Pakistan series. Participation in the Asia Cup in September, a home series against the West Indies in October, and a complete series against Ireland to end the year are the remaining commitments.
