With the attendance of all 108 ICC Members at the ICC Board and ICC Annual General Meeting, the ICC Annual Conference came to a close today in Colombo. The four-day conference’s subject, “capitalising on the Olympic opportunity,” was announced just days before the Paris 24 Olympics got underway, coinciding with cricket’s inclusion in LA28.

The delivery of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024 will be reviewed, the ICC Board has confirmed. Three directors—Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo, and Imran Khwaja—will be in charge of this and report back to the board later in the year.
After being formally placed on notice, USA Cricket and Cricket Chile have a year to address their existing violations of the ICC Membership Criteria. It is believed that neither Member has implemented a comprehensive administrative and governance framework that is appropriate for its intended use.
Cricket Chile will get assistance from the ICC Americas headquarters in correcting their non-compliance. The Board decided that USA Cricket’s compliance plan will be overseen and monitored by a Normalisation Committee made up of Board and Management officials. The ICC Board also reserved the authority to suspend or expel the Member for persistent non-compliance.

The distribution of the eight regional qualifying slots for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has been confirmed by the Chief Executives’ Committee. This would mean that three teams from a combined Asia and EAP regional final, one from the Americas, and two from each of Africa and Europe would advance.
The ICC has also reaffirmed that the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will expand from 12 to 16 teams in 2030 as part of its long-term strategic commitment to fairness across the men’s and women’s game.
The deadline for qualifying for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier has been established as October 31, 2024. Paul Reiffel’s appointment as the Elite Panel representative on the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee was authorised by the CEC.
