Imad Wasim goes back to the Notts Outlaws on a short-term deal in 2023.

Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has signed to play for Notts Outlaws in the T20 Blast 2023 for the third time as a foreign player. Imad Wasim will be able to play in the Outlaws’ last two group games and in the quarterfinals of the event if they make it that far. The 34-year-old also helped Outlaws win the prize for the second time in 2020.

Imad Wasim has been brought in as a back-up for Colin Munro and Samit Patel, who are both hurt and won’t be able to play in the last two games of the group stage.

Outlaws coach Peter Moores was happy to see Wasim again and thought about all the good times he had with the team.

“We’re glad to have Imad back, especially since we remember him winning the trophy at Edgbaston three years ago. He’s been with us before, which helps. He understands how we work and how we understand him, and he has played at the top level, which helps in big games. “He can bowl at different times of the game and is a strong middle-order batter,” Moores said in a release from the club.

Moores also said that both Munro and Patel have shown class so far in the event and that the franchise will miss them.

“Both Colin and Samit are great players who have shown their class throughout the event this year. We’ll miss what they bring to the team. But we think that if we take the chance to bring in an international player of Imad’s calibre, we can keep our team’s balance and keep trying to win,” he said.

Outlaws are fourth on the list of points.

Imad Wasim has taken 18 wickets in 16 games for Notts Outlaws over the course of two seasons and has an economy rate of less than 7. He also has a batting average of 24 and a hit rate of over 130. The bowler from Wales has also played 66 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Pakistan. He has taken 65 wickets so far, with an average of 21.78.

In the North Group Points table, Outlaws are in fourth place with seven wins out of 12 games. They still have to play two games, against Warwickshire on June 30 and Leicestershire on July 2.
